Task: Data Collection At Project level
The purpose of this task includes data collection for all the identified metrics based on the objectives as per defined frequency.
Relationships
Main Description

Based on the agreed list of metrics in the PGP, QA of the project shall facilitate collection of data and Engagement manager shall be responsible for data collection in the prescribed format (SQA Report or Metrics Report) for each phase or at milestone completion of the project.

QA shall report the data to Quality Group on monthly basis (Phase Wise) through metrics collection sheet or Tool as specified by Quality Group and share with Engagement manager.

The data shall be reported on cumulative basis. The last submitted report would contain cumulative data for the whole project/release. Care should be taken to specify cumulative data rather than only for a particular month, as the old data may be lost.

The Engagement Manager shall closely track metrics required for achieving the defined targets.

E.g., If target is to ‘Improve Quality’, metrics to be tracked can be:

  • Total number of defects identified.
  • Number of important defects / Artifact size.
  • Number of important defects / times spent

Metrics shall be calculated on the basis of defined formula in the metrics Handbook.

The identified metrics for the project are collected at the end of each phase/month (Whichever is earlier).

Metrics Data Collection, Integrity Check & Analysis

  • Metrics data collection at project level is typically done at the minimum frequency of once in a month.
  • Data integrity checks shall be done before using collected data for any analysis.
  • Metrics data analysis is done regularly at the same frequency of metrics data collection or as and when required.
  • SQA Report/ Metrics Sheet shall be used as a running template throughout the lifecycle of the project for metrics collation at project level.
  • SQA Report/ Metrics Sheet generated reports shall be shared with Engagement Manager on monthly basis and the same shall be controlled.
  • At the end of the project, final status of all the metrics tracked shall be recorded in Project Closure Report, which as a template is an extension of SQA Report/Metrics sheet.
